What are Veneers?

If you have teeth that are chipped, misaligned, worn down or discolored, veneers provide a great solution. Composed of a resin or porcelain composite, they’re thin coverings that fit over the teeth. They are made to blend in perfectly with your smile, so you can eat and talk normally. Sculpted to meet your needs, they make for a great way to get that straight, white smile you’ve always wanted.

Who Are Veneers For?

We have patients of all ages and backgrounds who enjoy the benefits of veneers! Because they’re personalized to the needs of each patient, we can help you decide what option best suits you. They can either match the color of your nearby teeth, or they can be whiter if you’d like to brighten up your whole smile. Veneers in Tulsa are crafted from a type of dental porcelain that looks like a natural tooth. It is virtually impossible to distinguish a normal white tooth from a veneer.

What’s It Like to Get Veneers?

You’ll need two appointments to get your veneers placed. And don’t worry if you need a reminder - we will walk you through the process. When you come into the office, you can expect the placement procedure to go like this:

  1. In the first appointment we’ll x-ray your teeth and get an impression to send to the lab. At the lab, trained technicians will craft the veneer to your personal needs and specifications. We will also clean and prepare your tooth, and determine what shade works best for your veneer.
  2. To make a space for the veneer to fit, we’ll remove a very fine layer of enamel from the surface of the tooth. For more sensitive patients, anesthesia can be applied at this point, though most patients find that it is not necessary. While the impression for the tooth is made in the lab, we will apply a temporary veneer to fill the space until the permanent one comes.
  3. Then, once the designed veneer is finished we’ll have you come back for the second half of the procedure. We’ll start by removing the temporary veneer. Then we’ll clean and prepare the tooth once more. Next comes the etching of the veneer, followed by a rinse, and some time to dry. After placing the adhesive, we’ll use the cement to place the veneer in the correct position. We’ll make sure the veneer matches the color and the shape of your tooth.
  4. When placed, we will cure the veneer with light for one minute so that it becomes completely bonded with the tooth. After the cement is fully bonded, we will remove excess material, polish the veneer, and let you rinse your mouth out.
